An American Dream
The goal of finding a job, owning a car and purchasing a house were considered the ultimate aspirations of the American dream. An opportunity feasible for anyone that embarked on an adventurous journey to come to the United States.
Our dreams change along with the times we live in. We are no longer craving for items that are built through purchases and debts. The dream is to be able to live a life that gives a sense of security, spirituality, space, absence of borders and limits. We are moving away from trivial distractions and allowing ourselves to reconnect with our inner selves, discovering higher purposes and finding our own sense of balance.
It’s the time to re-direct our sight and vision towards more sustainable goals, to re-imagine our habits and to set a successful future for the generations to come.
A trip to the Southwest was an opportunity for self reflection; we reconnected with nature, crossed real and imaginary borders. It ended in the very tangible border with Tijuana where a mix of personal reasons and spirit of adventure pushed us. The dividing line was a wake up call after an illusion created by our isolation and the wilderness of the territory.
The road to end discrimination, segregation and intolerance are as far as our collective daily actions and choices are taking us. There is a strong necessity to step out from the artifice that it’s been built around us. Common sense, public opinion and laws would suggest the direction is already set. The road seems to be paved, we need joint efforts and a proper use of our tools to make of our dreams our future.
